Short-form clips from livestreams, without watching every hour of them.

OverclipHQ runs clip pages for livestream creators. ClipKit is the tool we built to find the moments worth clipping and publish them.

What ClipKit does

ClipKit is a desktop application. It watches or downloads a livestream, transcribes it, works out which moments are worth clipping, cuts them into vertical shorts with titles, and — once a person has reviewed and approved each one — uploads them to the channels OverclipHQ operates.

  1. IngestRecords a live stream, or downloads a past broadcast or clip, from Twitch, Kick or a local file.
  2. TranscribeSpeech-to-text runs locally on the machine. Nothing is sent to a transcription service.
  3. SelectCandidate moments come from the transcript, from chat activity, and from clips the community already made. Each one gets cut points and a title.
  4. RenderCuts are re-encoded to vertical 1080×1920 with normalised audio.
  5. ReviewEvery clip is watched and approved by a person in a local review interface before it can go anywhere.
  6. PublishApproved clips are uploaded to OverclipHQ's own YouTube channel as Shorts, with attribution to the streamer and the original clipper.

Why ClipKit asks for YouTube permissions

ClipKit uploads finished clips to a YouTube channel that OverclipHQ owns, and reads back how those uploads performed so it can learn which clips are worth making. It uses two scopes:

ClipKit never deletes or edits videos, never changes channel settings, and never reads or writes anything outside the connected channel. The authorisation token stays on one local machine and is not transmitted anywhere except Google.

Attribution

Clips published by OverclipHQ credit the streamer whose broadcast they came from, and where the moment was first marked by a viewer's clip, the person who made it. Every clip description links back to the original source.
